Professor Mike Jackson graduated in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University before entering the civil service. After further study he embarked on an academic career although always with a commitment to practical matters. He is now an Emeritus Professor able to concentrate on his training and consultancy activities.

Mike is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, the Operational Research Society, the British Computer Society and the Cybernetics Society. He is a Companion of the Association of Business Schools. He received the OBE in 2011 for services to higher education and business.

As an academic, Mike authored several books (translated into a variety of languages) and over 100 articles on systems thinking and practice. He served as Chair of the UK Systems Society, President of the International Federation for Systems Research and the International Society for the Systems Sciences. He holds Visiting Professorships at many international universities. Mike was also Dean of Hull University Business School for twelve years and led it to ‘triple-crown’ (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA ) accreditation.

Mike has undertaken numerous consultancy engagements in the private sector, for government and local government, for educational establishments and charitable organisations.

In 2012 Mike established Systems Research Ltd and is able to draw upon the expertise of many colleagues in the systems field as necessary.
